COVID Catch up

Tarvin School expect to receive £22000 of Covid catch up funding. Staff have performed detailed analyses of gaps in learning to determine where this funding is best targeted. This is being delivered in the form of small group or 1-1 sessions both during and after school hours. This is delivered by experienced class teachers who are part of the school team and who do not have class responsibility so they can focus on this. Using our own staff means that meaningful and timely planning and feedback can happen with children’s regular class teacher. Some of this happens face to face in school and some remotely via teams.

This is being targeted at different aged children at different times of the year. We have also put additional in class support in Early Years and invested in additional pastoral support across the school.

All of this support combined far exceeds the monies we have been allocated with a breakdown as follows:

Support

Cost

Small group or individual teaching – provided by two teachers

Total Budgeted Cost:
Teacher Tutoring:
Autumn: £5550
Spring: £15859
Summer: £4759
Total Teacher Support: £26168

Additional support in EYFS – Provided by TA - This is in addition to the main plan.

£3824

Increased Pastoral support across school – Provided by HLTA/Safeguarding Lead - This is in addition to the main plan.

£6987

So we can judge the impact of these measures, we have assessed pupils in September and we have also looked at most comparable assessments before the March lockdown. This has indicated where there has been significant gaps in learning from where individual children would usually have been expected to be. This includes GAP analyses.  Whilst this is not an exact science, it should give us an indication of the success or otherwise of catching up the missed time by the end of the academic year for all pupils.

Details of our remote learning strategy can also be found on this website in the Covid section. This details how we mitigate the impact of individual families or cohorts having to isolate.
